Not All EICR's Are Created Equal - Understanding The Difference.

Unfortunately there is a lot of grey area when it comes to electrical inspections, or at least there can be if you are using this grey area to cut corners for profit.
Over the years we have quoted against many companies and often don't come close to competing, I have seen companies work for as little as £6 a circuit, at this level it's little more than a form filling exercise with engineers expected to “test” upwards of 70 circuits a day.
For me this is purely profit over safety, and it's not just the companies to blame, clients are choosing this cut rate service to simply fill a check box, with little to no thought of the safety implications.
Just recently we partially rewired a rental property that had no earthing conductor to half of the sockets that had somehow received 2 satisfactory EICR's in the last 6 years. the family renting this property had a 4 month old baby that would soon be crawling and the worst case scenario her doesn't bear thinking about.
These are not one off cases, they are becoming the norm in this industry where experience and competence are somehow bottom of the requirement lists.
We do things very differently, we believe in providing in-depth, comprehensive reviews into the true condition of an electrical system. As with anything if a jobs worth doing then it's worth doing right, and doing this right takes time, patience and a whole lot of time served experience.
In short, if you really care about your property, and the people living and working inside. Then do your research, shop around and choose a contractor on merit & experience, not cost and speed.
